In flooded battery technology the electrolyte (battery acid mixed with water) flows freely within the battery cell,circulating through highly porous envelope separators that separate positive and negative plates.

These types of batteries need to be installed upright to keep the electrolyte contained and need to be maintained (water added) in order to keep them performing their best.

Deep Cycle/Traction flooded batteries are designed for deeper discharge than starting batteries (50-80%) and used in situations that require more draw from the battery, such as golf carts, utility vehicles, solar applications.
